The starter vat is a process vessel made of stainless steel and with an important application in the dairy industry. It is used for the preparation of pure cultures (bacterial starters) required in the production of dairy products. Stabilengineering-Alpha constructs starter vats according to customer’s specifications.
The starter vat is among the most important equipment in dairy processing plants. The bacterial starters necessary for the production of various dairy products are prepared there.
The starter vat is a vertical cylindrical vessel with a flat sloping bottom for easier product output. Its lid is semi-openable and fitted with a special seal that prevents splashing of cleaning solution when cleaning with a cleaning head. The vessel is equipped with a spiral belt agitator with frequency control, its speed and start/stop are controlled from an external electrical panel. The product temperature is monitored by a thermometer and the temperature is regulated by a water jacket type “coil” mounted on the shell and bottom of the vessel. It can be used to supply ice water, hot water or steam. For better heat transfer, the jacket is insulated with stone wool and welded riveted lining.
