Scrubbers are used to purify air contaminated with hazardous gases or vapours. The pollutants condense in the column of the scrubber after which they are discharged into its collection vessel. These units are used in the chemical industry, connecting directly to the plant’s extraction system.
The construction of the scrubbers includes the following elements: column, collecting vessel, air inlet and outlet, elliptical hatch, etc.
When the contaminated air in the form of steam enters the scrubber column, it condenses there and the dangerous contaminants are removed by gravity. The condensation of the air most often occurs in two ways. First, through nozzles that disperse liquid and droplets of contaminant begin to condense and hence are trapped. The second method is by means of so-called mirrors or conical vessels placed one inside the other, which are cold and the condensation of steam occurs on their surface. Once the contaminants are captured, they are taken to the tub (collection vessel) at the bottom of the scrubber.
