The cold accumulator provides the required amount of ice water at 0÷1°C and at the required flow rate for the purpose of a production process or for the entire plant. Stabilengineering-Alpha designs and manufactures cold accumulators according to customer specifications.
A cold accumulator is a type of refrigeration system that operates on the principle of ice water recirculation and consists of the following elements: cold tub filled with copper coil; refrigeration unit; pump unit.
It is used to generate a large amount of cold energy in a short period of time, which can be drawn in batches and at high power for the purpose of one or more production processes. In the dairy industry, cold accumulators are used to cool fresh milk to 2-3°C during transport from the tanker to the plant itself, and to cool it after the pasteurisation process.
Most often, the cold accumulator is connected to a plate heat exchanger and once the product is cooled to the desired temperature, the water is returned to the cold tub. The performance of the unit is calculated on the basis of: tub volume, flow and pressure of pumps, installed power.
